Hi, congrats for the this great project.
I'm having just a little problem.
The v7_proto implementation as I can see does not accept network forwarded conections.
What im trying to say is:
If i change the "V7 BOS address" parameter on v7_proto.conf to a dnated address and on my firewall $IPTABLES -t nat -A PREROUTING -s $SOME_WHERE -d $EXT_IP -i $IF_EXT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 5190 -j DNAT --to-destination $ISERVERD_MACHINE:5190
From outside my clients can connect, but from lan where my iserver is, we can't conect.
Have any ideia?

IServerd v 2.5.1 (8 Feb)
icq2003, icq2000, miranda+icq plugin v8 works :-) Im happy :-))
but:
icq99a not work :-( problem looks similar to this what i wrote before. IServerd see client, client dont see IServerd.
("User (...) moved online", then "user (...) request login but already online")
Seems that there is still problem with Big_Endian byte order, but in v5 (sending?) only.
I have about 1k users with icq99, so... i'll wait... or make them migration ;-)
Thanks for Great Job.

i configured it and started it, it's running, but in syslog i found some messages that contain "Can't open config file (aim_proto.conf)."

Hi, it's Eric from Hong Kong! I have no good computer and IT knowledge and please don;t mind to ask you such silly question. :)
The following are the question about ICQ communication and its servers.
1. To the best of your knowledge, how long would AOL or ICQ to keep the chatting message in their server? 1 month? 3 months? It is about the privacy in any means.
2. If using the private ICQ server, will it also connect to public ICQ server? Or only serve as local computer for 2 parties? For example, assume the public ICQ server is in USA and I use the private ICQ server to connect people.
3. continue question 2, if the private ICQ server cannot connect to public ICQ server, it would have chance to amend any information/archive/history/setting in the private ICQ server, is that right?
Well, you may answer me right here or kindly send your reply to my e-mail.
Thanks for your help my friend :)
Have a good day!

Hi...
I've found 2 bugs (?)
first: you can't disable debug file, so when running server for long time (in my case) the server crash after 2~3 days with this error: "debug.log: file truncate" even if i clear this file every hour...
second: e-mail on cliente don't show correctly.....i just see "$" instead of "@", but it's right on database....
i'm using pt_BR table...
well, thats it...i'm waiting for new version and new protocol support :)

Hi,
I know this is not a support forum *(do you need one?)* but I have a question to ask, and I didn't find any other way to complete this :-D
As ICQ Lite - with some lil' modifications - seems to work fine with IServD I assume everything is ok there. Can you just explain me why I'm having problems with GAIM, like SNAC: Busted Playload?

i dont think the IServerd support linking whit each other, so i think there is impossible(for now) to connect IServerd with Jabber or another else server. Try to use multi-protocol clients, where you can connect to protocol different servers.

Hi,
I was wondering if it would be possible to have IServerd as an extension for the Jabber server, so that ICQ clients can directly connect to Jabber or implement Jabber support in such a way that IServerd can communicate with Jabber servers, like regular Jabber servers can do with each other.
Thanks in advance,
Z

ok, i did '# make' and nothing(!) happen! :) everything gone clean ... :) where is problem? ok, ps_status.o error >> try experiment with editing source code. i did *bfu* fix, but i cant find it on my HDD (it a long time ago i did it). there is problem with declaration and im not C++ debuger, so im sorry.
pg-libs > try '# ldconfig -v | grep pg' ... that might help
tvision > i got these libs installed due some program need it, but if u dont them override it with '# ./configure --with-out-icontrol' option
i think its all. if iserverd cant connect to DB, so u have to edit your PgSQL config file placed under $DIR/data/pgsql.conf or something like that and enable $port, may be $tcp :) but search in forum, or ask me personaly. im bored to search thru HDD now :)

Postgres: 7.4.2-4 (and dep)unstable
client: ICQ99a
Problem:"NOTES: Protocol version [1280] doesn't supported yet.."
1280 in hex = 05 00
so it is a problem with byte order.
When i change all "net_order == rvs_order" on "net_order != rvs_order" in buffer.cpp, IserverD starts to see client, but client still don't understand Iserverd.
Is this Debian problem (any patch?), or IserverD is not ready for this platform ?
If anyone have any idea, feel free to e-mail me.

Hy guys. I am been using iserverd for quite a while now and I love it.
The only thing I haven´t been able to do is run it on the external (internet) interface so that out-of-office people can connect to it and send/receive messages.
Anyone knows of a catch? Am I missing something? Nmap shows me that port 5190 is open on both interfaces, but outside clients connot connect to it.
I even tryied iptables redirecting the ports to the internal interface without success.
Any help will be apreciated.
TIA

So, you got iserved.conf file and there you must setup this:

The software is great and I have found out that RPMs for ASP are available and works like a charm under Red Hat 9.
The icontrol program doen´t provide all the functions it has on its menu like viewing the database´s contents. Works for a couple of things - like to check if server is running or restart/reload configuration.
I Think that other functions are disabled...
Anyways. Thanks for the great software.

Hello!
I had a pleasant experience with IServerd - 700+ accounts, 300+ online at any time and a system load of less than 0.3 on a dual xeon 2.0.
What do you people think of selling IServerd as an internal IM solution? Of course, the money would not be charged for the software, but for the *nix server, postgres and IServerd installation and, eventually, for the training of the client's IM admin.

I noticed the screenshot of this admin aim on here, and unless I'm mistaken, there is no such admin client. The menu appears to be a fake, reshack perhaps. The menu does not exist in any standard client nor has it ever existed. I'd also like to note the accessing of Aim's admin website, where all functions currently reside. As of current the only way an aim admin has any of those options (which most are fake) is to login to the site. Most of those functions aren't available on AOL. To block login, term, and about every other listed function on that menu, you have to leave a note, and that account is buffered for review by AOL internal admins. Needless to say, AIM doesn't use an admin menu, but a site only. Hopefully this clears things up.

Ok, so here're some experiences :D
By isd working we have a closed user group protected by a strict firewall, the only way to get inside is through a portforward process which is accessible by an rsa key.
So this means the server in my company has 5190tcp (or 4000udp) open which is forwarded to localhost:5190.
If you have some situation like this, please be aware that ICQ Pro 2003 and ICQ Lite 1350 and above will not allow you to connect to localhost:5190 or 127.0.0.1:5190. This seems to be a limitation on the icq client side.
Open your winnt/hosts file and add a new alias to 127.0.0.1 (shit for example), connect to shit:5190 and your problem is gone, you're logged in well.

New version is a bit strange. I know MDK distro isnt so good distro of linx, but ... i cant get any ICQs work together w new version of IServ. You have to connect couple times by ICQ and sometimes you couldnt connect until IServ is restarted. Pls. Schutko, do smth with that. Ver.2.4.6. doing well, i think, more than.
2Schutko: i got some questions about ICQ cli 2000b and greather. Pls. contact me, thx.

Dear ppl,
I'd just like to let you know that I've configured iserverd successfully on a redhat9 device.
It runs well, i have my users online. Also ICQ lite is able to connect - havent tried the pro yet though.
As IserverD does not really have any usefull doc excluding the protocol specifications, and AVS is not that reachable as he says in his docs, I might be able to help some of you guys out if I can. I can provide my configuration, postgres exports, etc. Please feel free to contact me :D
PS: Mr. Shutko, keep up the good work ;o)
PS2: i just could not make the web-management work. will give it some more tries.

Hi, thanks for this great software!
I have a few thinks to say.
- PLEASE move your project to sourceforge, you are wasting time and making people give up of your software, its no bug tracking system, no forum, no mailling list..
- Everything you document for russian language, document for english too, the rest of the world must understand too! :)
I found a few bugs in iserverd and isdwm, but i will not use a guestbook for that.
Cheers

I have put high hopes on IServerd with V7 support. I thought it would allow Miranda, Licq and other recent ICQ clones to communicate with each other. But, version after version, IServerd was unable to satisfy these goals. Either it didn't receive status from Miranda, or it couldn't forward messages from Miranda to Licq (and vice-versa). And there was not even a IServerd Users mailing-list where users could exchange experiences and tips. Moreover, the FAQ is outdated, it doesn't mention which V7 clients (and versions) have been tested with IServerd.
I tested IServerd-2.4.8.tar.gz with Miranda 0.2.1 and Licq 1.2.6. And I concluded it was time to give up and go for Jabber.
Goodbye IServerd,
Mark

I'm desperately anxious for V7 support. The reason is that there is no ICQ client for unix able to exchange files with ICQ Groupware client. If Windows computers have ICQ99, they can send files to Licq 1.04 (but not later versions!). The problem is that installing ICQ99 on a Windows system prevents the user from having ICQ2002 to connect to the worldwide ICQ network. BUT, if a 2001 compatible IServerd existed, then the user could install, for instance, Miranda (to communicate with IServerd) and ICQ2002 (to communicate with the outside world) without any conflicts.
What can we do to make you include V7 support? Do you accept bribes? :-)

For linux X11 GUI client use gaim. It works fine with ICQ_plugin (not oscar AIM/ICQ), but server address is compiled in in libicq.so module, you can easely change it in plugins/icq directory *.c files by finding "mirabilis.com" in them.

Hello, I have installed IServerd in my Linux server without any problems. Then I modify de source code to authenticate users in the NDS of Novell Netware server. It's seems to be nice, but all ICQ Clients for Windows accept only 8 chars for password. It's just short for authenticate on NDS.
There are much others icq clients for windows, but somethings or use the icq v7 protocol (not suported yet by the IServerd), or only accept password with 8 chars. I'm thinking using Miranda icq client (opensource) but it uses the icq v7 protocol and doesn't have the autoregister... Can You help me?

Great Program, all that is needed it global
user access.
A quick fix would be for your server to connect
to a global icq server as a client.
then all local icq messages would be delivered
by your server and all others would be
forwarded to a global server, by your server
then your server forwards the reply to the
client.
anyway tell us if it is possible, and i
am sure we will all vote for you to implement
the idea. thanks

Excellent work. I have it up and running with only a few minor difficulties!
(1) send msg to offline user causes him to get the same message over and over again separated by 10 second intervals. This occurs for the amount of time I let it try to send to him. (ICQ groupware beta)
(2) Existing users that I migrated can connect to the new server but I can't get new users to connect via auto-registration

I'm having this problem also
running redhat 7.2 with postgres 7.2, built the postgres server in /usr/local/iserverd/pgsql, compiled with--pg-xxx=/usr/local/iserverd/pgsql/xxx
is there a way to specify the libraries at runtime?
got some problems running iserverd on my linuxbox with slack8:
root@darkstar:# /usr/sbin/iserverd
/usr/sbin/iserverd: error while loading shared libraries: connot open shared object file: cannot load shared object file: No such file or directory
what does all that mean?
I??ve compiled postgres and so..
Is it something more I need to run iserverd?

Regarding the question "I want to bind IServerd on all interfaces, but can't. " ... if you have a iptables enabled Linux 2.4 box you can run:
iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -d -p udp --dport 4000 -j DNAT --to-dest :4000
for every inferface you want IServerd to 'bind' on.

Hi Alexander,
I'm using the IServerd 1.9.2
Pstgres 7.1
Linux Debian Potato.
The installation where ok. No errors. The IServerd is runnig with no problem, but when I'm trying to Sign In from a windows machine using the ICQ Groupware (I think it's 1.12) it doesn't work. The message is ever the same "Password Error". I have tried with ICQ99b too and the error is the same.
Some idea?
